What's the best electric car? Tesla dominates in the ultimate comparison
Car and Driver recently tested 11 electric cars in the ultimate test. How long does it take them to travel 1,000 miles? Contenders include the Audi e-tron, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Kia Niro EV, Nissan Leaf Plus, Polestar 2, Porsche Taycan 4S, Tesla Model 3 Performance, Tesla Model S Long Range, Tesla Model Y Performance, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and Volkswagen ID.4. We'll compare claimed charging speed versus actual average charging speeds for electric cars, and look at how long it takes each of the 11 contenders to charge up for 100 miles of highway driving at 75 mph. Additionally, we will compare stated EPA range versus actual highway range. For the road trip, this video will compare overall traveling time, charging time, how much slower the competition is versus the fastest car, how much slower everyone is versus a gas car, and average speeds. We'll also discuss charging infrastructure, headaches, navigation, planning, and the Electrify America charging network. Engineering Explained is a participant in the Amazon Influencer Program.
